Powerscourt Distillery are extending their very successful Whiskey and Food pairing experience in the coming weeks and months. The distillery’s in-house Food Historian & Food and Beverage specialist Santina Kennedy, has developed a Food and Whiskey Pairing experience, incorporating carefully selecting high-quality Irish artisan foods products to provide a delectable accompaniment to their Fercullen range of whiskeys.
Inspired by the quality of the Ferullen range of Whiskeys and the history and location of the Powerscourt Distillery, Santina has chosen foods that reflect that history, legacy and the innovation of local food producers.
The food and whiskey pairings include Irish Farmhouse Cheeses in a variety of styles and textures, including some local Wicklow cheese. There’s also a selection of Irish charcuterie, cured using traditional methods by artisan producers. Irish crackers, local breads, Wicklow honey and other accompaniments add to the ‘food story’. Sweet treats include a small selection of Irish made biscuits, many of them gluten-free, locally baked cakes, such as the Fercullen Fruit cake steeped in whiskey. The Fercullen Whiskey Ice cream is the perfect dessert, and there is a large selection of locally made chocolates. Powerscourt Distillery is uniquely positioned to showcase local produce with six carefully appointed individual tasting rooms available for private and corporate hire, pre and post-wedding events, high-end AV lounge, and retail areas which are open to the public for tours and tastings.
