Lough Ree Distillery is a family-owned business, set up by Clancy siblings Peter, Sheila, and Michael in our hometown of Lanesborough, Co. Longford, on the banks of the River Shannon as it opens out into Lough Ree. We’re ideally located in the centre of Ireland, within easy day-trip distance from Dublin, Galway, Mayo or Sligo. Our vision is simple – “To bring to the world, from our hometown, the finest and most highly regarded Irish spirits”. We’ve been distilling gin & vodka in our microdistillery since 2018 and started distilling Irish Whiskey there in 2022, making us Ireland’s smallest GI Verified Irish Whiskey Distillery.

We are building a larger, commercial scale, Irish Whiskey Distillery overlooking Lough Ree in Lanesborough and while we wait for our own whiskies, we have sourced some exceptional mature whiskey stock, which we are finishing in hand-picked and rare casks from Europe’s finest bodegas and wineries. The brandname for this series of limited-edition releases is The Bridge, inspired by the bridge in Lanesborough, but also to signify clearly that it’s a Bridge to our own whiskey being ready.

MORE INFORMATION

We’ve also developed Bart’s Blended Irish Whiskey, distilled at Great Northern Distillery and blended to our specification, but bottled in Lanesborough. Our visitor experience is not yet open for visitors but whiskey, gin and vodka tastings and behind the scenes tours of our microdistilllery can be arranged upon request. Guided Sightseeing Boat Trips on Lough Ree may also be arranged in conjunction with your trip to Lough Ree Distillery. During the summer months, we operate “Distillery Yard – Coffee & Chill” space, in a stunning outdoor location overlooking Lough Ree, beside Lanesborough Bridge, with ample parking nearby. Distillery Yard is an ideal pit-stop for coffees, teas, snacks and soft drinks, with occasional outdoor concerts and events held there.
